Happy Boxing Day

For some reason the US does not observe Boxing Day. But, I know it is a big deal in the UK where I used to live for a while. It is also observed in Canada, New Zealand and most of Australia. My calender claims that South Australia celebrates another holiday on Boxing Day called Proclamation Day.

Yes, we observe Boxing Day in Australia.

South Australia was proclaimed a state, on 28th December 1836 but they usually celebrate this on the 26th December and refer to it as Proclamation Day instead of Boxing Day.

Susan, thanks for the information. I have only been in Queensland and New South Wales. I have never been to South Australia. Some day I would like to visit Victoria and Tasmania.
