This Sunday is 6 March or Ghana's Independence Day. Modern Ghana has existed as an independent state now for 54 years. This is longer than any other former colony in Africa south of the Sahara

Hey Otto! Sorry if it's a bit off-topic, but how are the Ghanaians reacting to the troubles in next-door Côte d'Ivoire? President Laurent Gbagbo on Monday nationalized the nation's two main cash crops, coffee and cocoa, according to state-run television.

Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana are about the same size and population and agriculture is a massive economic factor to both. What's the likelihood of the CI troubles spreading to Ghana?

Stanley: I have not seen any coverage of the Ivory coast on local television. There are a few stories in the newspapers. Nobody here as far as I can tell seems to be overly concerned as I have heard no discussions about it.
