Okay that didn't work

Well posting five controversial beliefs did nothing to garner me any comments other than one from Walt, my good friend of many years now. I think I first met him in New York over eleven years ago. So much for the suggestion that provocative postings would elicit comments. I do not think it even got me any new readers. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Well, you are definitely pushing the envelope a bit more lately Otto! I don't know how many people you will find who will disagree with you on Stalin's misdeeds. Oh, well, there is certainly a rise in Stalin nostalgia in the former Soviet bloc, but not in the rest of the world. Your assertion about the dislocation of Palestinians in 1948 is obviously inflammatory in certain pro-Israel quarters, but I don't think you're going to solve this problem from Accra. But you did't get my blood pumping there for a few minutes. On another thread, what do you make of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin's interest in Israeli affairs in past couple of years?

Allen:

There is a huge Stalinist contingent on the internet. Some of them are from western leftist groupsicles, but a lot of them are Russians. Strangely enough a lot of these Stalinist Russians live in the West.

I am pretty sure that most Americans think that anything bad done to the Palestinians is a good thing. There is also a strong Zionist presence on the internet. But, obviously I was not saying anything new.

I did not know that Putin was interested in Israeli affairs. So I am not sure what to make of it. But, it makes sense since there are about a million native speakers of Russian in Israel.

Another reason you don't get a lot of comments, particularly on controversial topics, is that you don't allow anonymous posting. I agree with you--anonymous posting destroys the integrity of any discussion. But a lot of the people you describe floating around the internet are too cowardly to use their real names.

So nobody is going to comment on cotton in German Togoland because they are afraid to use their real names? ;-)
