I just found a list of 3,508 Russian-Germans conscripted into the labor army who died in Usol'lag between 1942 and 1947. Usol'lag was a labor camp in the Urals dedicated to logging.
Where would you find a list like that? Perhaps we could incorporate a list of names like this in a database for GRHS or for BSGR (a new group Black Sea Germans from Russia www.blackseagr.org ) I translated an article and list of names a few years ago written by Hilda Riss, in the Landsmannschaft Heimatsbuch.
Merv, the entire list can be found at the link in the hypertext under the word "list." The document is in Russian and sorted alphabetically. If you need help finding somebody e-mail me their name and any other information you think might help and I will look through it for you.
Okay thanks. I missed the url link. I found a few names from Odessa oblast, and from Crimea, although it seems primarily to be a Volga list. I will study it more closely as time allows. Thanks again.
According to German and Kurochkin the camp was in Molotov Oblast not Sverdlovsk. It was actually located in the city of Solikamsk. The Solikamsk camp also in Molotov Oblast and in Solikamsk Raion was in the work settlement of Borovsk. Bogoslovlag, Ivdel'lag, Nizhnetagillag, Tavdinlag and Vosturallag were in Sverdlovsk Oblast.

ReplyDeleteOtto, would you happen to know the exact location of this camp in the Sverdlovsk Oblast?
