I do not get very many comments so I am not exactly sure who reads this blog. It would be interesting to know something about my small audience. Well you know who I am. I think you put a good mix of stuff here, although of course the posts I'm most interested in concern the minorities in Russia. It will be interesting to read your observations about Ghana.

Well I will probably continue to have some stuff on various nationalities in Russia/USSR. But, this blog has been evolving towards more short personal observations. I will definitely record my thoughts about living and working in Ghana.

Well, a lot of my personal life actually does not get blogged for privacy reasons. In particular to protect the privacy of other people. For instance there are no pictures of Mary Lynn on this blog. So the blog is a very incomplete autobiography. I have made a conscious effort to keep my posts short in recent months.
I first read you when trying to find information for a long-running discussion with friends about Israel. It struck me that your opinions, vehement as they are, and obviously well grounded, are contained in an envelope of almost luminous personal innocence. I then got to know you a lot better through all your earlier postings, and now look forward to learning about the University of Ghana.

But, as is noted in this blog my personal and professional life were undergoing a lot of significant changes. I hope that once I get settled in Ghana my life will resume some normalcy and I have some time to blog about life in Africa.

ReplyDeleteIn another post you mentioned that In and Out Burger chain had the best hamburgers per cost. I've never eaten there but as far as I can tell the best all-round fast food operation in California is Carl's Jr, the one with the stupid smiling star as a mascot. My relatives in California hate the place because of the founder's ultra-rightwing views.
Probably the very worst hamburger/fast food chain in the entire world is Jack in the Box. I was open minded and gave them a chance while I was in Texas and during my visits to California. Without exception the food is either second rate or bad tasting. When I think of biting into a Junbo Jack I think of eating cardboard. Anyway, best of luck.

ReplyDeleteCarl's Junior is pretty good, but it is not as good as In and Out and it is considerably more expensive. The Western Bacon Cheese Burger at Carl's Junior has a nice flavor. The combo meal, however, runs over six dollars. At In and Out you can still get a cheeseburger and drink for $3.75.
