New Trailer for Under Jakob's Ladder

The Moon Brothers have just finished their new trailer for their soon to be released movie Under Jakob's Ladder. For those who have not been paying attention it is a movie that revolves around the religious persecution of ethnic Germans in Ukraine during the Stalin era. This is a topic Hollywood has steadfastly avoided. So I urge everybody to spread the word about this new film.

    I've thought many times that the story of the deportation of the Karachays or Balkars or any of the deported peoples would make a great movie, but no one in the west really cares about those people, so it's not likely to happen.

    I think the Karachay deportation would make an excellent movie as well. I have talked to a number of survivors of the 2 November 1943 deportation here in Kyrgyzstan and some of them have really compelling stories. A movie focused around the experience of one family from 1941 to 1961 would indeed make a great drama.
