Why do US academic "progressives" lie about BDS?
I keep seeing the false claim by "progressive" North American academics on very high traffic blogs that the PACBI requires the boycott of individual Israeli scholars. This is simply not true. It is a deliberate and malicious lie spread to hamper the implementation of BDS by academics. The PACBI instead targets Israeli academic institutions not individuals. It does not differ at all from the earlier academic boycott of South Africa which all of these same "progressives" supported.

Otto: Why did you post back in September 2012 that I was militantly anti-BDS? Not only is that not so, although I do oppose the academic and cultural boycott part of hteir programme, but I never wrote about this group at all until last Saturday. What were you drawing on last fall when you said that? Genuinely curious.
Otto: why did you post last September that I was militantly anti-BDS? Where did you find this information? It's not so, although I oppose the academic and cultural boycott part of the programme. But I never wrote about it at all until last Saturday.
Please stop lying Professor Potter. Saturday is not the first time you have written against BDS. After the 2008 Israeli attack on Gaza you had a post on your old blog opposing BDS and refused to answer my question why did you not also oppose the boycott of South Africa? It was on the basis of this earlier post that I determined that you were militantly opposed to BDS.
