Arivaca blogger population to grow

Today I found the blog of a man moving to Arivaca. So if any of my tales of the Garden of Eden that is Arivaca have intrigued you and you want to know more go see his blog. His name is name is Chris O'Byrne and his blog Where is Chris? is currently detailing the move and overland trip from points east to Arivaca. Having made the overland trip myself I will note that TN is wonderful, NM nice and AR and TX awful. These last two states are ugly. Crossing from Memphis TN with its nice upkept roads and well maintained rest stops to AR with its pot holed highways and filthy toilets is quite disturbing actually.

I agree with your state analysis. TN is a beautiful state and AR and TX are rather hideous. NM is, well, charming. AZ is home! After AZ, my second favorite state is VT. Not necessarily because of the weather, but because of the political leanings and general state of enlightenment (look at all the co-ops; small, liberal collegs; and intentional communities).

Thanks for stopping by. I have never been to VT. I do like AZ.

"Texas is Hideous" etc.

Texas is the second largest state in the union, I believe, after Alaska, and has parts that are quite beautiful, actually. The hill country in East TX is quite wonderful, and some stretches of desert in South and West Texas have a terrible, austere beauty to them. Texas is a state of contrasts, perhaps more than most other states that are smaller.

Okay, maybe I over generalized. The parts of Texas on the side of the high way from Dallas through El Paso by way of Odessa are ugly. That is still alot of ugly. There is no beauty in El Paso.

Ah, the hill country, I forgot about that. I did think the area around San Antonio and Austin was rather pretty. Although the Rio Grande valley is not much to look at, it does have some of the best birding the country... after southeastern Arizona.
